A beloved resident of a care home in Hook marked her incredible 108th birthday surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Joyce Browne, born in 1916, celebrated her birthday at Heatherside Rest Home at Scures Hill, Nately Scures, on Saturday, October 28.
Born in 1916 in a quaint village in Suffolk, Joyce has lived through a century of remarkable change, witnessing two world wars, two pandemics, and the reigns of five British monarchs.
Joyce began her working life as a housemaid, serving as a Lady-in-Waiting to the Queen, who would later become the Queen Mother.

She went on to work as a postwoman and telephonist before marrying her husband Bill, a member of the Wiltshire Regiment, in 1941 during the Second World War.
She is the proud mother of two daughters, a grandmother to two granddaughters, and a great-grandmother to a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Since moving to Hook in 1983, Joyce became an active member of the community.
She was deeply involved in Life Church and enjoyed attending the Luncheon Club, where she formed cherished friendships.
While this year's celebration mirrored last year’s festivities, with her family gathering to honour her milestone and a birthday card arriving from King Charles, Joyce’s advanced age meant she was unable to answer questions in the same way she had previously.
However, when asked about the secret to a long life, she shared a simple yet profound answer: "Being happy."
