THE ROOF, windows and doors of a bungalow damaged by a fire in St Mary Bourne will be replaced after the borough council granted planning permission.
The owners of the house in Spring Hill Lane asked Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council if they could repair and replace parts of the house in an application submitted on August 19.
The three-bedroom bungalow was made 'unhabitable' in July 2023 after a fire at the property which caused 'severe damage' to the bungalow.

The application states: "The fire destroyed the roof and windows of the property which as a result are not fit to be re-used."
"Full replacement of all internal elements" is proposed, in addition to the roof, windows and doors. However, it is intended to keep the existing/remaining walls.
The site is in the St Mary Bourne conservation area, meaning planning officers must pay 'particular attention' to the scale, height, form, and materials of the proposals.
Planning officers from the borough council noted that there were no objections from conservation officers, adding that proposals would 'preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the area'.
St Mary Bourne parish council raised no objection to the plans, which will see the house restored to how it was before the fire, with minor alterations made.
The application was granted by officers in a report made on November 4.
