The festive spirit is beginning to take shape in the heart of Basingstoke as contractors work to transform the Top of Town with the installation of dazzling Christmas lights.

Workers have been spotted trimming trees and installing sparkling Christmas lights around Market Place ahead of this Friday's much-anticipated Festive Friday event at the Top of Town.

The event, organised by Love Basingstoke, promises to kick off the festive season with a bang.

Set to run from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, November 15, the celebration will feature free family-friendly activities, performances by local artists, and a special appearance by characters from this year’s Sleeping Beauty pantomime at The Anvil.

Stunning 10-foot-tall stilt-walking angels, Corvus Angelicus, are set to dazzle audiences, while festive tunes spun by a local DJ outside The Willis Museum will keep the atmosphere lively.

Visitors can also test their skills at Christmas-themed fairground games or get crafty with festive workshops.

Top of the Town businesses are adding to the cheer with a special Christmas market offering unique gifts and treats, alongside festive snacks from businesses like Gabardine and Chennai Express.

The preparations are already drawing attention, as passersby pause to watch the crews decking the streets with festive decor.
