Emergency services rushed to Parklands Hospital earlier today (Wednesday, November 13) after reports that a patient had climbed onto the roof.

Police, fire crews, and ambulance teams were called to Parklands Hospital on Aldermaston Road to save the patient following reports of the incident that prompted temporary evacuations.

South Central Ambulance Service revealed that the large emergency response was due to a person on the hospital’s roof.

"They have now been safely returned to the ground," said a spokesperson.

Hampshire Police confirmed they were called at 12.26pm to address concerns for the welfare of the woman.

"She is now in the care of hospital staff," a police spokesperson said.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "This afternoon at 12:28 (13th November) a crew from Basingstoke Fire Station assisted our blue light colleagues at Southern Health's NHS Foundation Trust's Parklands Hospital, Aldermaston Road to ensure a patients safety. No action needed to be taken by our crews. The patient is safe and in the care of hospital staff. The stop came in at 13:42."
