PLANS are in motion for an office building above a shop in the town centre to be converted into two, two-bedroom homes.
An application for prior approval of change of use of the first and second floor of a building used as an office to two, two-bedroomed residential dwellings.
The first and second floor of 25 Wote Street, above iBrokemygadget in the town centre, could be converted from offices to flats if a bid from a developer is successful.
SKVC Limited put in the prior approval application on November 8. The proposal is for the conversion of the first and second floor from Class E to form two, two-bedroomed residential dwellings with communal stairs and landing, with access from the front and rear of the building.

The first floor flat is two-bedroomed (one double and one single room) with a gross internal area (GIA) of 67sqm and the second floor flat is also two-bedroomed (one double and one single room) with a slightly smaller GIA of 63sqm.
On behalf of SKVC, chartered town planners Bell Cornwell wrote to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
The letter reads: "This submission follows that of an earlier application for prior approval.
"That application was refused because insufficient information was provided to demonstrate that the existing building can be soundproofed sufficiently to provide the necessary noise mitigation. There were no further reasons for refusal.
"This application provides a new Noise Report, following a new survey and details how the existing building can be soundproofed internally to provide the necessary level of noise mitigation."
