A Basingstoke teenager has been named as the Lord Lieutenant’s cadet for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Flight Sergeant Charlotte Dransfield, a member of the 443 (Basingstoke) Squadron of the Air Cadets, was selected from more than 1,000 cadets across the region.
The appointment was officially presented by Lord Lieutenant Nigel Atkinson during a ceremony held at Lord Wandsworth School on October 24.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Basingstoke Mayor Dan Putty.
Charlotte, who is currently a student at Queen Mary’s College, has been an active Air Cadet for five years.
As the Lord Lieutenant’s cadet, Charlotte will assist the Lord Lieutenant in carrying out official duties, including representing the county at various civic and military events.
