A Basingstoke pub has reopened under a new management, blending traditional British pub culture with a unique Nepalese twist.

The Royal Oak in Worting Road has been revitalised by its new Nepalese owners after the previous landlords, Jim and Jackie, stepped down to return to Ireland.

The pub’s management announced the changes in a social media post, inviting patrons to "pop down to the Oak" and experience their vision of "Himalayan hospitality."

Though a full Nepalese kitchen is still under development, the team is serving light bites and plans to introduce a full menu of authentic Nepalese cuisine in the near future.

Guests can expect hearty dishes that reflect Nepal’s bold flavours, along with friendly service that includes the occasional "namaste."

The management said that all new beer lines ensure a crisp, clean taste, featuring a selection of popular brews such as Amstel, Stella, Guinness Extra Cold, and Birra Moretti, alongside non-alcoholic options.

The main bar has been given a fresh look and a welcoming atmosphere, along with a jukebox for customisable music.

Sports fans can enjoy events on a massive 65-inch TV and additional screens throughout the pub.

Pool, darts, a new games machine, and weekly entertainment, including live music, will also be available.

"We’re combining the best of both worlds—British pub traditions and a touch of Himalayan charm," the management said in a Facebook post.

When contacted for a comment, the new management said they would make an official announcement when the pub is ready for a "grand opening."
