An MP has said she will "continue to listen carefully" to constituents on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill.

Alex Baker, MP for Aldershot and Farnborough, has received hundreds of letters and emails about the Bill, which was introduced by MP Kim Leadbeater.

The Bill aims to allow terminally ill adults to request and receive assistance to end their own lives, with certain safeguards.

The issue has gained attention due to celebrity interventions from Esther Rantzen and Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson.

She arranged meetings in Aldershot and Farnborough to hear from those who had contacted her about the subject.

Ms Baker said: "I recognise that there are strongly held ethical and moral standpoints on both sides of this debate, and these meetings provided me - and everybody who attended - with an opportunity to listen to each other’s views.

"I was deeply moved by many of the personal experiences that local people shared.

"The truth is that this is an issue on which I am still considering my position, so I will reflect on these very carefully over the coming weeks."
