A HOLE in a car park which was 'fixed' by placing a plank of wood over the top has finally been fixed - but the plank of wood remains.

As previously reported, a drain in the car park in Paddock Road, South Ham, was left damaged for more than a year, after a hole formed in the ground surrounding it.

To 'fix' this, Sovereign Network Group (SNG), which owns the land, placed a wooden board over the top when it was reported - this was described by one resident as "an accident waiting to happen."

Justyna Czekanska, 43. explained that the 'temporary' measure was often damaged by cars driving over it, only to be replaced by another board.

Now, the hole itself has finally been fixed, with brickwork around the drain repaired by SNG, however, the wooden board remains in place.

Justyna told the Gazette that "The hole was fixed two days after the article was published.

"I'm happy it got fixed so quickly.

"The board is still there but it looks much better, I'm really pleased.

"It just shows that if you really care, you can get any problem solved. Happy days."

Justyna previously expressed her fears for what might happen if the damaged hole and board were to remain in place, telling the Gazette: "People break the wood when they drive their cars over it. I have reported it before along with neighbours, and they [SNG] just keep coming back with another plank and cover the hole.
