Heavy rain has led to minor flooding-related disruption across parts of Basingstoke on Wednesday, November 27.

While the situation in the town remains manageable, residents are being urged to stay cautious, especially on roads prone to flooding.

Gresley Road is one of the many areas that experienced slight traffic congestion due to surface water accumulated under a bridge.

Earlier on Wednesday, the M3 Northbound faced temporary disruption as flooding forced the closure of the exit slip road at Junction 5 for the A287 at Hook.

The closure caused delays, with traffic diverting along the A30 London Road at Junction 6/A339 Basingstoke.

The slip road has now reopened, and traffic is flowing smoothly again.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the South on Wednesday. The Environment Agency’s latest flood forecast warns of possible travel disruptions and localised flooding, particularly from surface water and rivers.

The heavy rain has also impacted local sports. Basingstoke Town FC’s youth team had to cancel their scheduled T3 Tactic League game against Procision Football Academy due to a waterlogged pitch. The match, set to kick off at 11am, will be rescheduled for a later date.

Residents near low-lying areas or close to watercourses are advised to monitor local weather updates and prepare for potential flooding.
