A SUSPECTED drug dealer riding an e-scooter has been charged after police found what they believe to be Class A drugs and hundreds of pounds in cash on him.

David Holden, 45, of Hailstone Road, Basingstoke, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A and acquiring / using / possessing criminal property after police stopped him while he was riding an e-scooter yesterday, Tuesday, November 26 in Maple Crescent.

Police searched him and found suspected Class A drugs, more than £450 in cash and three mobile phones.

He was arrested at the scene.

All items, including the e-scooter, were seized.

He is due to appear on Basingstoke Magistrates Court today, November 27.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "A man has been charged after officers located suspected Class A drugs following a proactive stop in Basingstoke yesterday.

"Officers spotted suspicious behaviour on Maple Crescent on Tuesday 26 November and searched a man riding an e-scooter.

"Following the search, officers located suspected Class A drugs, more than £450 in cash and three mobile phones. A man was arrested at the scene.

"All items, including the e-scooter, were seized.

"David Holden, 45, of Hailstone Road, Basingstoke, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A and acquiring / using / possessing criminal property.

"He is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today (27 November)."
