A BRITISH bakery chain will open its doors in Chineham Shopping Centre according to a planning application submitted by the company.
Greggs will open in a unit previously occupied by Pets Corner before the pet store's relocation in August to a space next to Matalan and Marks and Spencer.
The chain bakery already operates a branch at the shopping centre, which includes indoor seating as well as a large selection of baked goods, sandwiches, drinks and more.

However, it is not currently clear whether Greggs will close the branch, found next to Sue Ryder charity shop, or whether a secondary location will open in the centre.
The application, which has been approved by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, sought permission to install new signage as well as air conditioning condenser units and extract grilles.
The five signs, four illuminated and one projecting, will be installed on the front, back and sides of the building reading 'Greggs' with the brand's signature logo, made up of four yellow squares.
Drawings included in the planning application show that 22 external seats will be placed outside the unit, including under the archways of the Clock Tower.

Chineham Parish Council said in a statement that it 'does not object to the application' but would like to pass comment on the suggested outdoor seating arrangements.
It added: "We note that the two outdoor dining tables directly adjacent to the doorway will pose a restriction to the flow of foot traffic under the archway.
"It was discussed that the unfortunate complication of cyclists ignoring rules and restrictions on cycling within the Chineham Shopping Centre and the frequent parking of mopeds under the archway means that the placement of the two tables in question would cause further restrictions due to the constant flow of heavy footfall."
Greggs declined to comment on the planning application.
