A BASINGSTOKE mum is hoping to send a positive message to children with the publication of a new storybook.
Charlotte Anurukem has been visiting schools in Basingstoke reading her new book Oopsy Whoopsy Daisy to children.
The fun rhyming picture book, published by Soul Splash, helps children cope positively with mistakes.
Charlotte, a mum-of-two, said: “It lets children know that it’s okay to make mistakes. In fact, mistakes can help them learn and grow.”

The 35-year-old author founded Soul Splash Kids to build character and confidence in young children through books and songs and has also written children’s book Daddy is the Best. She was inspired by her own daughters, aged six and four, to write her new book.
She explained: “Growing up I have always been a perfectionist, and my first child is a bit like me. When she was learning to write, she was quite hard on herself when she made a mistake, so we came up with a rhyme to help her through those emotions. It taught her not to be so hard on herself and that it’s okay not to get something right the first time. If you can learn that as a child, it sets you up for life.”
The book features colourful and ethnically diverse illustrations and includes the repetition of a fun rhyme throughout to support children to build confidence and resilience after mistakes.
Charlotte has a background in singing and songwriting as well as psychology, education, life coaching and mentoring, and is now visiting schools in Basingstoke for rhyme and resilience sessions to read her new book and sing along with the children, including at Castle Hill Primary School and St John’s Church of England Primary School.

She said: “Even though the book is written for children the person who reads it can also be reminded to be gentle and kind to children when they make a mistake and to themselves.
“It’s been great fun visiting schools and meeting the children who have all learned the song and by the end of the session they all knew the words and were singing along.”
The book can be bought on Amazon for £7.99 as a paperback of £3.99 for a Kindle edition.
