TOP skaters from across the world will be taking to the ice to raise funds for the Help for Heroes charity at the Basingstoke Arena next week.

The artists will be skating to the music of Michael Jackson in a two-hour show entitled Chiller on Ice – A musical journey through the life of Michael Jackson.

An additional Friday show – the first takes place on Thursday – will see 10 per cent of the takings donated to the Help for Heroes charity, which provides vital support for wounded servicemen and women, and there will also be collections on the night.

Heading an all-star cast is seven times British Champion Jenna McCorkell, who early next year will be in action at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

The British champion said: “This show is going to be great and I am delighted that we are helping to raise money for Help for Heroes on Friday as it is such a worthy organisation.”

Also featuring in the show is her husband and top Belgium skater Kevin van der Perren, who was a bronze medallist in this year’s European Championships.

Both were part of the sell-out Dancing Queen show in the summer and a lot of the stars from that production will be in action again, including trick skater Alex Wilde, fire performer Vicky Ogden, along with World professional pairs champions Fiona Zaldua and Dimitry Suchanov.

There will also be a number of members of the Basingstoke Skating Club taking part in the December 10 and 11 shows which both start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £13 (stands) and £16 (on ice), and family tickets are available for three, four or five people priced respectively at £34.50, £46 and £57.50.

Tickets can be purchased from the box office on 01256 355266 or for more information go online to thearenagroup.co.uk.
