A WEBSITE designed to attract investors to Basingstoke’s biggest business district has been launched.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council wants to regenerate 65 acres on Basing View and has already announced plans to improve the look of the area, including new signs and the demolition of two derelict old office blocks – City Wall House and Loddon House.

Now the council has launched basingview.co.uk to tell people about its plans, with a video on the website suggesting the area could become a modern-looking glass and steel business district.

Councillor James Lewin, Cabinet member for finance and property, said: “We need to show people that this council is serious about changing the image of Basing View.

“Alongside the physical improvements and works taking place on the ground, this new website will help show potential investors, as well as new and existing businesses, the potential that Basing View has to offer.”

The council has now signed a contract with Greenham Common Trust to turn Norden House, in Basing View, into an incubation centre providing accommodation and support for young businesses.

Council leader Cllr Andrew Finney told The Gazette: “We are very lucky to have an experienced operator like that who is prepared to work with us.

“They have got an excellent track record and, more importantly, are a not-for-profit organisation.”
