MOTORISTS in Basingstoke are being warned to be vigilant following a spate of number plate and car badge thefts.
Police report a sharp increase in the theft of these items from vehicles, with four cars in the Brighton Hill area targeted in the last ten days.
Sergeant Graeme Eaton, from the Basingstoke Tasking Team, said: “We have had a lot of reports of car badges and number plates being stolen from vehicles across the town over the past few months and would like to hear from anyone who has any information about who is responsible for these thefts or information about what these items are being used for.
“I would also like to remind motorists and vehicle owners to be vigilant and report any sightings of suspicious activity, or the incorrect use of registration plates and badges within the town.”
Anyone with any information should contact Sgt Eaton at Basingstoke Police Station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
