THE lagoon and flumes at a Basingstoke swimming pool will remain closed over the summer, it has announced.
Due to "essential maintenance work", the popular family-friendly facilities will not be available at Basingstoke Aquadrome at the Leisure Park over the summer holidays.
A message on its website reads: "The lagoon and flumes are closed for essential maintenance work this summer. Family swimming will be in the 20m pool."
Some residents have expressed confusion as to why the work was not carried out while the facility was shut during lockdown restrictions.
One wrote on Twitter: "The lagoon and flumes at the Aquadrome are closed all summer, after the lockdown when they could have done the work then."
Swimming pools were permitted to reopen to the public on Monday, April 12 after nearly 5 months of forced closure.
Swim England described the day as a "welcome relief to millions".
