Tesco has announced it will be selling Hot Cross Scones just in time for Easter.
In a UK supermarket first, this Easter treat combines the warming spices found in hot cross buns, with the crumbly texture of a traditional scone.
The scones are made with Cornish buttermilk, Cornish clotted cream and has a tangy citrus flavour and currants throughout.
Tesco has 10 variations of the classic Easter staple, including the new Tesco Finest Maple Syrup and Blueberry Hot Cross Buns.
Returning favourite flavours include salted caramel & chocolate, apple & cinnamon and St Clements hot cross buns with plump orange-soaked sultanas and raisins.
Nicola Orchard, Product Development Manager, said: “Our new Hot Cross Scones combine the crumble of a scone with the fruity flavour of a hot cross bun, and we expect them to be huge a hit with our customers this Easter.
"As with traditional scones, you can serve with Cornish cream and a touch of strawberry jam – but the big question is, do you put your jam or cream on first?"
The Hot Cross Scones are available to buy in-store and online now and a pack of two costs just £1.
