WITH sunshine and soaring temperatures expected this weekend, it is the perfect time to cool down with a swim.

If you are still keen to avoid the crowds and just perfect a quieter spot, then there are plenty of places to discover in Hampshire for a swim.

We have rounded up a few locations that you might want to visit this weekend.

Brockenhurst

The River Lymington is the perfect spot to visit for those with young families.

The knee-deep river is good for shallow swims and paddling but there are deeper areas near the bridges.

The river also has a little shingle beach and is surrounded by plenty of grassy areas, where you can dry off and dig into a picnic.

Fordingbridge Park

Another great spot for young families, not only can you paddle and swim in the cool river Avon and there is also a huge play park next to the river.

The famous chalk stream fishing river is deep enough for a swim and there are plenty of grassy areas to relax after a dip.

The river is next to a beautiful three arch bridge and a pub.

Compton Loch

This easy access swimming spot on the river Itchen can be found with wooden steps in and out of the deep pool.

Odiham Ford

The pretty Old Ford is part of the North Warnborough Green Nature Reserve and is peaceful but muddy spot for a cool down.

Surrounded by beautiful meadows, the area is tranquil on a sunny day and only takes around 15 minutes to walk to on the public footpath by King John’s Castle.

St Cross

The River Itchen is a very clear, shallow, fast flowing chalk stream making it an ideal place for a swim.

There is free parking available on Garnier Road and you can access the river along a public footpath which is signposted.

Latchmoor Brook

In the summer months the stream runs wide and shallow for a paddle. Surprisingly in this pretty brook you can spot fossils such as small sharks’ teeth and microfossils- but you mustn’t dig them out.
