A SPARKLING performance by Winklebury saw them beat a battling KG B 9-1.
Malcolm Cummins was the man-of-the-match with his treble and failed to drop a single game.
There were also three pen-holders on show during the fixture, one being Colin Wilkes who was on top form and negated opposing pen-holder Steve Ng’s attacking shots with reliable blocking.
It was left to the KG’s other pen-holder John Ahlan to secure their solitary point with a four game win against Peter Bradley.
St Peters B beat Queens C 8-2 as the scoreline did not reflect the quality of their side.
In particular, Peter Howell was at his cunning and deceptive best with his tricky services which Queens’ Dominic Ng remarked that he had a torrid time returning. However, despite the services, Callum Coombs managed to take Howell to five games – only to lose 11-5, while Coombs and Ng did score their own five-game wins over St Peters’ Steve Armstrong.
Peter Martin took all three points on offer but none were easy wins in Queens A’s 5-5 draw with Hannington. Pimpler Tony Brown also had a good evening with two wins over Sav Thevendria and Paritosh Singh.
There was also an enthralling five-game match between Singh and Barry Carter, which featured four games being settled with deuce. In the end, Carter showed stronger resolve with a 12-10 fifth game win.
