BASINGSTOKE Town manager Jason Bristow was full of praise for his side after watching them come from behind to win for the third game running.
Visiting Staines Town took a 13th minute lead at the Camrose on Saturday – but Basingstoke hit back.
Goals from Shaun McAuley and Tim Sills had them ahead before half-time, while Jay Gasson’s towering header shortly after the break completed a 3-1 win.
Town boss Bristow said: “It was the most enjoyable win of the season for me.
“We had to come back again, which is frustrating, but the composure we showed throughout the game was good. We were up against it, losing an early goal and three men to injury, but we finished the game strongly, so all credit to the players.
“Manny Williams was outstanding. He showed his experience and worked really hard for the team, while Jordace Holder-Spooner was also excellent when he came on.
“Going a goal down was disappointing but there seems to be a belief that we can get back into games. There is a lot of confidence in the group at the moment and winning three games on the bounce will hopefully set us up for the rest of the season.”
It was a good day for Town, who were solid at the back for much of the game, energetic in midfield and clinical in front of goal.
“Taking chances is the big difference,” Bristow added. “We were getting the chances four or five weeks ago but not taking them. Now we are converting and we’re winning games.”
The only headache for Bristow is on the personnel front. Delano Sam-Yorke, Shaun McAuley and Matt Warner all had to be substituted due to injury, though their problems may not be as bad as first thought, while Ross Adams was sent off after picking up a second yellow card in the closing stages.
