JUSTIN Rose was left to rue a final hole lip-out as he surrendered a two-shot lead to finish second at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
An excellent opening three rounds left the north Hampshire golfer two shots clear at the start of the final day - but he was hauled in by Jamie Donaldson's excellent display.
The Welshman was two shots clear as he stood on the 18th tee but a bogey at the last gave Rose the chance to force a play-off with a final hole birdie.
The former Robert May's School pupil gave himself a chance, leaving an eight-foot putt to stay in the hunt - but his effort caught the lip of the hole and stayed up.
See The Monday Gazette for a full report and Rose's reaction to his first tournament of 2013.
