DAVE Smith scored a superb treble, dropping just one game, as he helped Basingstoke and District Table Tennis League Division Three leaders Oakley B beat Aldworth D 9-1.
Aldworth’s only point was scored by Simon Parker, who defeated Ron Draper 9-11, 11-1, 11-8, 11-8. The victory saw Oakley extend their lead over second-placed KG C to eight points and they still have a game in hand.
In a fixture which David MacDonald thought was closer than the score tells, his KG C side ran out 8-2 winners against Queens I, with six five-game clashes.
The match started off much in favour of the winning team as they won the first six points before a fight back from Mick Buley and Blanka Bimi, who defeated MacDonald but could not spare Queens I the defeat.
AWE B’s new face of Nick Jasper scored his first two points in their 6-4 win over Queen’s H. Jasper looked on course for a treble after defeating Jan MacDonald and Alan Fletcher but saw his progress stopped by Linda Dumont.
Jan MacDonald said: “It was a good match and newcomer Nick is a little match rusty at the moment, but he is going to fit well with the AWE team.”
