A FIVE star second period saw the Basingstoke Bison beat the visiting Peterborough Phantoms 5-1 on Saturday night.
The victory sent the Herd back to the top of the English Premier League after Guildford lost in Milton Keynes.
Man-of-the-match Greg Owen led the scoring with a hat-trick as he celebrated being selected for Great Britain, while Jaroslav Cesky and Doug Sheppard netted the others.
Basingstoke-born goalie Connor Standing made his home league debut in the final period which produced one of the biggest cheers of the night.
Peterborough's lone strike came from James Ferrara.
