SAINTS striker Rickie Lambert is just two goals away from notching up a century for the club there would be no better place to do it than Old Trafford tomorrow night.
That is the next stop for Southampton as they look to climb further up the Premier League table, where they are currently 15th, four points clear of the drop.
January so far has been very fruitful for the south coast side as they are unbeaten and this includes draws with Chelsea and Arsenal.
After a 0-0 draw with Everton at St Mary’s in his first game, new Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino could really win over the Southampton fans if he could get a result at Old Trafford. However, this is a tough task as they are the Premier League leaders and have made their home ground a fortress this season being only beaten once in 11 games in Manchester.
On Saturday the Red Devils breezed into the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford as Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and a brace from Javier Hernandez helped them to victory.
When the sides met earlier in the season at the beginning of September Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick including two in the last three minutes in a 3-2 win for United.
This after Lambert and Morgan Schneiderlin had given Saints a 2-1 lead.
So having gone so close last time Southampton would love to cause an upset as two goals for Lambert would do very nicely.
Reading also face a tough test tomorrow night, when they welcome European Champions Chelsea to the Madejski Stadium (kick-off 8pm).
The Royals progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup, where they will meet Manchester United, thanks to a 4-0 victory over League One Sheffield United on Saturday.
That made it four wins in a row for Brian McDermott's men, who are now just a point from safety at the bottom of the Premier League.
