TOTALLY Tennis performance player Miles Bromilow was one of seven lucky players selected to progress to the national stages of the Barclays Ball Kids tennis initiative.
Bromilow, who is 13 and attends Bishop Challoner School, has made it through the regional trials at the Hampshire Health and Racquets Club.
He will travel to London in April, where he will have the opportunity to be selected to be a Barclays Ball Kid at this year’s Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, to be held at The O2, London in November.
Bromilow was chosen after braving the freezing conditions along with almost 100 other children at regional selection trials. The players had the opportunity to impress the Barclays Ball Kids Talent selection team with their athleticism, agility, endurance, co-ordination, ball skills, balance, speed and team work.
The Barclays Ball Kids tennis initiative is one of the best grassroots sporting initiatives of the year in the UK and has built up a massive following over the three years it’s been running.
Now in its fourth year, the national search is part of Barclays ongoing sponsorship of the event and aims to find 30 children aged between 12 and 16 years to join the world’s top eight tennis players and star as Barclays Ball Kids at the 2013 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
A total of 14 regional selection trials will be held across the country between now and March, followed by a national selection Trial on Saturday April 13. The final squad of 30 Barclays Ball Kids will be selected after that.
