FRANCIS Vines spoke of his pride at seeing his Basingstoke Town side upset the odds to beat a team three leagues above them.

Speaking immediately after the game, the Town manager said he was worn out, but had not found the match as nerve-wracking as the dramatic penalty shoot-out win against Worcester in the previous round.

"I am feeling good but to be truthful it did not feel as stressful as the Worcester game," he said.

"I am very proud of all of the players, even the ones in the stand who didn't get on today.

"We deserved to win today. I thought we had a chance to win if we approached the game well but when you play a league team you have to beat them first time."

The manager had special words of praise for the back four, who managed to keep a clean sheet against a team that scored three goals against a Premiership outfit just days earlier.

"Stuart Seale had to make a couple of decent saves but Joe Dolan and Joe Bruce competed well aerially and physically," he said. "They were under a lot of pressure in the second half but coped well and worked hard."

Also speaking after the thrilling match, goal-scoring hero Matt Warner expressed how he was feeling.

"I am absolutely ecstatic and I don't really think it has sunk in yet," he said. "When I saw the ball hit the back of the net, I really did not know how to feel and just went to celebrate with the fans who have come all this way.

"This result is great for the club. The team spirit is amazing at the moment and has been for the last couple of months. I just hope we can kick on from this and get some results in the league."
