Basingstoke boxer Dean Francis is hoping to fight for the British light-heavyweight title next month.
The 39-year-old, who came out of retirement at the end of last year, was due to face Courtney Fry in a British title eliminator – but that fight has been cancelled.
Instead, the British Boxing Board of Control have invited purse bids for a bout between Francis and Bob Ajisafe, with the winner being crowned champion.
Bids must be submitted by Wednesday and Francis is hoping that the fight will take place on a show being held in Bristol early next month.
The Basingstoke boxer said: “It’s a real bonus to be fighting for the British title next because you never know what might happen, particularly in my career.”
