BASINGSTOKE Town have announced the signing of former Reading striker Nicholas Bignall.

The 23-year-old came through the ranks at the Madejski Stadium, making four appearances and scoring twice for his hometown club.

He also enjoyed spells at a host of other clubs, including Brentford and Bournemouth, before leaving being released by the Royals last summer after suffering two years of injury problems.

He remained with the Berkshire club on non-contract terms this season as he continued his rehabilitation.

Bignall goes straight into the Town squad for tomorrow's visit of Havant and Waterlooville.
