WE HAVE had a very disappointing week, with a defeat at Tonbridge in Saturday followed by a defeat at home to Chelmsford on Tuesday.
In both games we had spells where we looked very good but for too long in the games we were poor.
Against Tonbridge, we started the game very brightly and created numerous chances in the first half, only to go in at half-time a goal down after conceding a very poor goal. In the second half, we didn’t play with the same impetuous.
On Tuesday, we didn’t start playing until the start of the second half, when we played some fantastic football at a tempo that Chelmsford couldn’t live with.
We were rewarded with our second goal, but then it was like someone hit a button and we stopped doing the things that were getting us success.
It’s been very frustrating of late, and nobody feels it more than me.
Hours of work go into preparing for games and there are plenty of sleepless nights. When things don’t go right you always question if you could have done things differently.
One thing is for sure though, we need to put the last few games behind us and focus on the last six games of the season.
Some more frustrating news is the injury to David Ray, who will miss the rest of the season after injuring his Achilles. He has been excellent for us all season and his partnership with Jay Gasson at the back has been huge for us.
Better news is that Simon Dunn is nearing fitness.
Regards,
Jason
