SATURDAY saw us put in a very workmanlike performance against a much-fancied Ebbsfleet side.
A wonder-strike from Shaun McAuley proved to be the winner and some excellent defending from the whole team resulted in us securing our fourth clean sheet of the season.
This week we travel to Bishop’s Stortford. We were on the wrong end of a 5-3 scoreline at their place last year, so we will be looking to turn the tables this time around.
Stortford had a very good result last week at Havant so will be confident, but if we play how we have for the majority of the games so far, we will have a chance of returning with something.
The academy start back full-time next week. We will be welcoming around 50 players to the club on Monday, which is a great achievement considering this is only out third year as a full-time academy.
The FA Youth Cup also kicks off as we visit Hartley Wintney and this will be closely followed by league action for the squad.
I wish all the players in the academy an enjoyable and productive year and look forward to seeing how they develop over the coming season.
Adam Clarke has been working tirelessly over the summer in the community and he also has some exciting times ahead, with many players being recruited for our academy throughout all ages. They too will be starting their league action soon.
Welcome to the club to all those players and good luck for the season ahead.
Regards,
Jason
