NOW that we are safely through to the first round proper of the FA Cup and know our opponents, we return to league action on Saturday, when we face a confident Chelmsford City side.
As expected, Harrow Borough provided us with a real test, and for all our chances and possession on Tuesday, we very nearly conceded with the last kick of the 90 minutes.
There were some very good individual performances for us but I have to say how pleased I was for Lloyd Macklin. He has been very patient this season and in recent weeks he has been instrumental in us getting some important results.
Once again, he came off the bench and was outstanding, terrorising the Harrow back line. I was delighted to see him finally get the goal he deserves.
This week we face Chelmsford, who have had some excellent results in recent weeks. They have scored plenty of goals and will be a real threat.
We will need to assess a few players before deciding on our team to play due to niggles and injuries. The good news is that we have players champing at the bit to play.
The Academy had two fantastic results last week, beating Brentford Bees 6-2 in the league and Aldershot Town 3-1 on penalties after drawing 1-1 in the Hampshire Invitational Midweek Floodlit Cup.
George Hallahan scored four times against Brentford and also got our goal against Aldershot to continue his impressive form. Zack Tyler and Perry Tessier-Hunt also got on the scoresheet against Brentford, while goalkeeper Lewis Murphy saved three penalties in the shoot-out against Aldershot.
The team are second in the table ahead of their next league game at Queens Park Rangers Trust next Wednesday.
Regards,
Jason
