IT WAS a frustrating game at Hemel Hempstead Town last Saturday.

We managed to score three goals away from home but came back with no points. There were a few individual errors from players who have been outstanding for us all season. They were punished and we were left empty handed.

We created a lot of chances, particularly in the first half, when we found their goalkeeper in inspired form.

Some of our play was very good and we must stick to what we believe in. If we take our chances when they come along and cut out the mistakes, we will get a result very soon.

Unfortunately, Tuesday’s game was postponed, but the referee made the right decision as there was standing water on the surface.

Last week, the Academy had a very busy day, with three games on Wednesday.

In the morning we visited Hayes and Yeading United and after a poor first half we responded very well after the break. We lost but were able to take a lot of positives from the defeat.

In the afternoon we hosted runaway league leaders Southampton Bath and found ourselves three goals down after some excellent football from the visitors. Two penalties from Ben Blackwell set up an exciting finish and we had chances to equalise before two late goals put some gloss on the scoreline.

And in the evening we visited Hartley Wintney in the Hampshire Invitational Floodlit Cup. The players worked hard, but with tired legs, they were unable to prevent Hartley winning 1-0.

On Saturday, the first team host Whitehawk in the FA Trophy. We will be looking to inflict another defeat on them again after a very close 1-0 win in the league.

We also welcome back Sergio Torres and hope that this time he will be fit to play.

Regards,

Jason
