OVERTON United A moved another step closer to the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division One title with an 8-1 win over bottom-of-the-table North Warnborough.
Jessie Todd and Joe Lake scored inside the opening 10 minutes to put Overton in control, while further goals Ben Evans and Siyani Thomas had them four goals to the good.
Jason Williams pulled a goal back for Warnborough early in the second half, but Nathan Bennis hit a quickfire hat-trick and Ross Soper-Dyer completed the scoring.
DJS Telecoms’ title hopes were dealt a blow as they lost 5-2 to TwentyTen.
Pete Lomax put the title-chasers ahead early on, but Jake Tanner headed home a Joe Osborne cross to level the scores. Carl Pearson saw his penalty saved by DJS goalkeeper Chris McKenzie, but Osborne followed up to put TwentyTen ahead.
Lomax’s second meant it was all square at the break, but Osborne’s hat-trick strike had TwentyTen back in front, Pearson’s second of the match making it 4-2. Jake Tanner’s shot went in off Danny Stafford to complete the scoring.
