WE HAVE a rare Saturday with no game this week. This will give us a bit of extra time on the training pitch and time to refresh some players for Tuesday and give it our all in the final push of the season.
The game against Weston super Mare on Tuesday will be extremely tough. They are in fantastic form at the moment and are playing some excellent football. I expect them to be very well organised and pass the ball well.
On Saturday, we picked up a valuable point at a ground that’s always tricky to play at.
Chelmsford made better use of the conditions than we did in the second half but we got a deserved point near the end with a well taken Manny Williams penalty.
The last couple of games have seen us use the full squad. Lloyd Macklin has come in and done very well, giving Chris Flood a deserved rest. Chris has started every game this season and it’s important that we look after him.
In midfield, Simon Dunn, Louie Soares, Shaun McAuley and Manny Williams have shared the load over a busy week and it was great to see the return of Jay Gasson in defence.
With eight games to go, it is now about mental strength as much as performance. We are in a great position but with pitches drying out, it will be difficult to play with too much momentum on bobbly surfaces.
It’s important that we stick to our beliefs and stay patient in games, just like we did on Saturday, because the rewards will come.
Jamie Brown will be stepping up his rehab and hopefully return to training in a couple of weeks. This will be a massive plus for the squad and will hopefully give us that boost we need to get over the line.
Regards,
Jason
