IT WAS another frustrating evening on Tuesday.
It was a game that could and maybe should have been wrapped up inside the first 20 minutes as we started very brightly.
As well as scoring a very well-worked goal, we missed four other golden chances and then let Oxford back into the game.
An excellent free-kick from Louie Soares in the second half put us in front again, only for us to be pegged back after conceding another penalty.
The players are working extremely hard to get their first win of the season and we are confident as a group that we will go on a good run very soon.
We are now two games unbeaten, so we shouldn’t be too disappointed, but there are areas we need to look at over the coming days.
We now face another good side, with big spending Margate visiting us on Saturday.
It will be our fifth game in two weeks and there would be no better time to get three points.
We have a relatively small squad at the moment and it’s important that we utilise the fresh legs we have, as we have done in the last couple of games.
The academy start full-time training again in a couple of weeks.
We will be starting the year with approximately 70 full-time players, which is a huge achievement for a club that has only been running the scheme for three years.
The squad will compete in three different academy leagues as well as being available for the Under-21 league. Again, the progress the club has made in this area has been excellent.
If you are interested in the final few places on the academy or Under-21 squads, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Regards,
Jason
