WE RETURN to league action this weekend with a very difficult trip to high-flying Bath City.
It’s the second meeting between the teams already this season, with Bath edging the first game 2-1.
It was a strange game that we deserved at least a point from, but we conceded two penalties, with mistakes leading to their goals. At the other end, we missed a few good chances and a fantastic save from their goalkeeper gave them the points.
Last week we progressed in the FA Cup and we now know that we will be at home to Chelmsford in the next round.
Chelmsford are in good form at the moment and having knocked out Ebbsfleet, they will be coming to us expecting to progress.
On the topic of the FA Cup, I would like to add my congratulations to Hartley Wintney, who are enjoying a great season so far. They beat Merthyr Town in the last round, which was a fantastic result, and they now face Eastbourne. Good luck to them for that game.
The academy enjoyed a great result last week with a 3-1 victory.
The performance was controlled and clinical and the win thoroughly deserved. It was great to see things players had been working on come into play.
The under-21s played Woking under the lights on Tuesday. It was a great workout against a very strong Woking side and gave us a benchmark of where our new set up needs to get to.
It was also a good opportunity to get minutes into some if our first team squad, which meant that during the first 45 minutes there were 12 first-team players on the pitch, making it a great learning and development experience for our young players.
Regards,
Jason
