LONDON Irish were unable to complete a quick double over Edinburgh in the European Challenge Cup, as they lost 18-15 in the Scottish capital on Friday night.
The result leaves the Exiles level with Edinburgh in second place in Pool Five, behind French side Grenoble who beat Agen 48-45 on the same evening.
Irish looked to be heading for victory thanks to scores from front rows Gerald Ellis and Tom Smallbone, however, Scotland flanker John Hardie scored a late try for Edinburgh, to add to Tom Brown’s first half score to secure the victory.
Irish are next in action on Boxing Day (2.30pm) at the Madejski Stadium, when they face a visit from Northampton Saints in the Premiership.
