LONDON Irish second-row Matt Symons has exercised his right to be released from his current contract and has joined Wasps ahead of the 2016-17 season.
The 26-year-old made the switch to the Exiles last summer from New Zealand Super Rugby side the Waikato Chiefs and has made 23 appearances for the Exiles.
Head of Rugby Operations at London Irish, Glenn Delaney said: “We are disappointed that Matt has decided to leave the club and pursue other playing opportunities. He has been a consistent performer for us and we wish him well for the future.”
Symons said: “I have really enjoyed my time at London Irish and I’m very grateful for the opportunity of playing for the club. There are some outstanding players and people at the club and I’m sure they will be back in the Aviva Premiership in 2017.”
