BEVERLEY Cleaver/Jane Hatter and Sandie Benham/Penny Luke helped Old Basing to a great 8-0 win over Winchester in the Basingstoke and District Tennis League Division One, writes Richard Mole.
However, Hampshire Court will take some catching after they chalked up their fifth straight 8-0 win this time over Goodworth Clatford A, with their team of Tina Wood/Sally Clackett and Julie Frankland/Elaine Witham. Andover are in second place after a 6-2 win at Goodworth Clatford and a draw at Winchester .
Odiham A won 5-3 at Winchester thanks to a maximum from Pam Verdon/Sue Cockroft. Beechdown A won 6-2 at Odiham with Emma Giddings/Clare Munns winning all their sets.
Overton are top of Division Two following an 8-0 win against Preston Candover and 7-1 over Totally Tennis with Zoe Taylor/Lucy Battersby being unbeaten.
Odiham B won 5-3 at Preston Candover and Aldermaston secured 7-1 wins against both Goodworth Clatford B and Preston Candover with Nikki Lines/Karen McKenzie being unbeaten in both. Totally Tennis drew with Odiham B thanks to Tracy Grout/Michelle Goulding.
Beechdown B head Division Three after they beat their C team 8-0, Whitchurch 8-0 and Winchester B 5-3. Joanna Ward/Rachel Fletcher and Ali Porter/Nikki Acton got the Whitchurch max.
However, they lost 5-3 at Hampshire Court B who also drew with Mortimer thanks to a maximum from Jayne Crowley/Alex Nicholls. Winchester B beat Hampshire Court B 6-2 and Beechdown D 8-0.
