NEW Overton bosses Carl Clayton and David Asker did not get the start they were looking as United lost 3-0 at Clanfield.
Saturday’s encounter always looked tough on paper and this proved to be the case as Clanfield led 2-0 at half-time, despite a couple of good saves from Paddy O’Brien, while Ollie Bode went closest for the visitors in the first 45 minutes.
After the break, Ben Dillon had a good chance, but the home side added another goal to their tally.
The last 45 minutes saw midfielder Jacob Burrows and forward Steve Price make their debuts for the team and both did well.
Saturday, Overton are on their travels again to Infinity.
After Saturday’s game joint manager Clayton said: “I am disappointed we lost, but I think we were better than 3-0. It was not a fair reflection of the game. We will go again and look to improve against Infinity, who like us have added to their squad and hope this will kick start our season.”
