WHITCHURCH manager Carl Bennett was delighted that his goalkeeper Josh Cotton had recorded back-to-back clean sheets as the Jam Boys won two games 2-0.
Bennett said: “Josh is the best goalkeeper in this league and will end up playing at a lot higher level.
"He is only 16 and I cannot praise him enough. He has made some great saves in both games and deserved his pair of clean sheets.”
On Saturday, the Jam Boys won at Hythe and Dibden 2-0 in the Wessex League Division One.
They took the lead as Kieran Maylen’s cross was put into his own net by a home defender with Josh Chandler ready to score.
After chances form Yeomans and Jack Ormiston, Lloyd Thompson made sure of the win in the final minute.
Whitchurch are now 14th in the Wessex League Division table and are away at tenth placed Downton on Saturday.
The previous Tuesday, Whitchurch beat Stockbridge 2-0 in the opening round of the Andover Open Cup at their Longmeadow home.
Nick Yeomans scored the first goal after 12 minutes and it ramined 1-0 until half-time.
Josh Jellis completed their 2-0 victory, with a goal five minutes from time.
Whitchurch boss Bennett added: “It is great to win two games on the bounce. It is definitely a step in the right direction. I hope we can now build on these two performances”
