OVERTON United enjoyed their first back-to-back wins of the season as they followed up Wednesday night’s 1-0 win over Liphook United with a 3-0 success against Fleetlands, both in the Hampshire Premier League.
The double success has seen the side move up to tenth in the table, but this weekend they take a break from league action.
They travel to HPL leaders Paulsgrove for a second roundt ie in the Hampshire League Cup and then face the same opponents at home a week later.
Joint manager Carl Clayton was a delighted man after the brace of wins and said: “Everyone played well and we took out chances and it was great to take six points as well as collecting two clean sheets.”
Wednesday night’s affair was a tight contest and after Sean O’Brien had made a couple of good saves, the home side won the contest with five minutes to go.
George Jones forced his way into the final third and found Steve Price and he slotted home from an acute angle on the left.
On Saturday, Price had the best chances for Overton in the first 45 minutes, but was denied and the home side were disappointed to go in level at 0-0 at the break.
The deadlock was broken, 10 minutes after the break as Price scored.
The game was then made safe thanks to a brace of well taken strikes from Johnny Gurney.
