FOR the second week running Hook and Newnham Basics lost a high scoring encounter, as they went down by 18 runs.
Last week, it was away at Andover, this week it was at OTs and Romsey.
The home side batting first were pegged back at the start as they made 78-4 as Richard Willcock (5-29) got amongst the wickets.
Robert Newman then turned in a match winning innings of 104 not out, as he steered the home side to 240-8.
Hook did not get off to the best of starts as they found themselves 98-6, but from there they hit back as Jordan Hobday (55), Rhodes Franklin (54) and Shane Brewer (29) added valuable runs, but in the end they just fell short being bowled out for 224 with nine balls remaining.
This coming Saturday, Hook are at home to Liphook and Ripsley.
