HOOK and Newnham Basics returned to winning ways as they beat visiting Liphook and Ripsley by 88 runs.
The home side batting first turned in a solid display, as nearly every player made it into double figures.
Jordan Hobday batting at number six top scored with 60 from 42 balls, which included eight fours and one six.
Openers Jack Robson scored 34 and Richard Willcock 11, while Matt Love and Alex Brown were both caught after scoring 26 and Matt Buckingham made 23.
The ninth wicket pair Rupert Armstrong (13 not out) and Anik Divecha (12) added valuable late runs as Hook finished on 242.
The visitors reply got off to a great start as openers Ryan Covey (58) and Sam Franks (10) put on 50 in the opening nine overs.
The home side needed a breakthrough and first change bowler Willcock, provided it as he had Franks caught by Hobday.
However, Liphook continued to look on top, thanks to Covey and Harry Munt (12), before an inspired double bowling change turned the game on its head.
Rhodes Franklin in his first over, bowled top scorer Covey and then Divecha did likewise removing Munt making it 88-3.
Franklin (4-32) and Divecha (2-17) then set about taking out most of the middle order, as the visitors soon found themselves 124-7.
Rob Nicklin (25) and Sean Burton (18 not out) were Liphook’s last hope, when they were parted thanks to another Hobday catch, off the bowling of Warner.
In the end they were bowled out for 154 as Warner (3-17) finished off the job.
This weekend, Hook will be hoping for their first league double of the season, when they travel to Hartley Wintney.
