JUSTIN Rose stormed back into contention at the Open on day three with a super round of 64 at Carnoustie.
It was a career best for a major round and moved the former Robert May’s pupil to five shots off the lead.
Rose starts his final round today at 1.45pm.
It was a far cry from his first two rounds as he only made the cut thanks to a birdie on the 18th on day two.
Yesterday, Rose sunk seven birdies as he carded the joint-lowest Open round at Carnoustie with Steve Stricker and Richard Green in 2007, but this was short of Branden Grace's major record of 62, which the South African recorded at The Open last year.
