HOOK and Newnham Basics sunk Portsmouth to move themselves away from the Southern League Division One drop zone.
Jordan Hobday hit a superb 127 from 91 balls to help the visitors to 229 for a 86-run victory.
Hook captain Matt Love won the toss and decided to bat and when he joined Hobday at the centre his side were 39-2.
The experienced pair then put on 116 for the third wicket, before Love was bowled by Andrew Marston for 26.
Hobday, was then the fifth man out, as his excellent innings came to an end, after he hit 18 fours and three sixes.
It was left to Jack Robson (21) to add further runs in a total of 229, as Fraser Hay finished with 5-49.
The Portsmouth reply was soon on the rocks, as Liam Shore and Shane Brewer removed the openers with only 12 scored.
Hay, then set about making hay, with a quick-fire 26 in 25 balls, but spin king Anik Divecha got rid of him.
After this, Divecha added two more wickets and fellow spinner Rhodes Franklin returned 4-39, as Portsmouth were reduced to 124-9.
It was left to Brewer to complete the job as the home side were bowled out for 143.
This coming Saturday, Hook are at home to Sarisbury Athletic and then a week today (3pm) they entertain Hartley Wintney in their Southern League T20 Cup semi-final clash.
