HOOK and Newnham Basics found new Southern League Division One champions Bournemouth too hot to handle at the seaside.
The home side won the toss and decided to bat and early on they struggled to 44-4 as Shane Brewer helped himself to 3-55.
However, the middle order got to work to build a total to defend, thanks to Dominic Clutterbuck (38) and Sim Woodruff (36), plus a useful 24 not out from number nine Chris Park, helped the home side to 216-9.
The Hook reply did not get off to the best of starts with openers Richard Willcock and Josh Buckingham both back in the pavilion with just seven scored.
Jeremy Warner (3-16) struck twice more to remove Matt Love (13) and Matt Buckingham to leave Hook on 44-4.
Harry Warner (41) and Rhodes Franklin (21) added 39 for the fifth wicket, but they were parted by Robert Park (3-21).
He along with Dominic Clutterbuck (3-18) removed the tail for 17 runs, with Shane Brewer scoring 11 of them as Hook were all out for 100.
Today, Hook's Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup final against Basingstoke has been cancelled and will be played on September 2.
Hook complete their league campaign at home to Andover on Saturday.
