BASINGSTOKE seconds lost out in a high scoring contest at Sparsholt.
The home side won the toss and decided to bat and scored 314-6.
Their innings being under pinned by David Banks’ 110 and he shared a century stand for the fifth wicket with Stuart Taylor (46).
There were also good knocks from Michael Haworth (48) and Tim Vokes (42), as Ash Neal and Rakitha Perera took two wickets each.
The visitor reply started badly as Scott Dyer departed for a duck, but Matt Deadman (109) and Dan Birch (46) put on 114 for the second wicket.
Birch was the second man out after a 52 ball stay at the centre which saw him hit five fours and a six.
Deadman and Richard Vinn (18) added 57 for the fourth wicket Then Deadman departed with the score on 199, his superb knock lasting 106 balls and saw two sixes and 13 fours.
Greg Donaldson then took up the mantle with 52 from 43 balls, but in the end the visitors fell short of their target as they finished on 307-9.
Jeremy Frith and Liam Doran helped themselves to three wickets each.
The seconds complete their campaign away at Waterlooville.
