THE Basingstoke Bison extended their winning streak on home ice to seven games after a 5-1 victory over the visiting Streatham Redhawks.
It was the visitors who started the better in this contest, before the Herd started to get a foot hold in the game.
However, it was Streatham who led at the first buzzer thanks to a great strike from Adam Wood, which meant the forward has scored in all three games against the Herd this season.
The Bison took just 36 seconds of the second session to level things, as man of the match Michal Klejna converted a nice pass from Ashley Tait.
At 25 minutes exactly, the home side edged into the lead, as just seconds after a powerplay on Ziggy Beesley expired, Adam Jones fired in from the blue line after being fed by Klejna.
Soon after, the Herd come close to getting a third goal, but Alex Sampford’s effort came off the post.
Another Bison powerplay saw Hallam Wilson denied by Damien King.
As the period came to a close, Streatham’s Michael Farn tried his luck, but Alex Mettam was equal to his shot with a kick save.
Streatham’s final penalty of the night saw man of the match Alex Roberts depart to the penalty box after he hooked Klejna.
The home side made full use of the man advantage with a third goal, as Russ Cowley found Tom Ralph, and he fired home past an unsighted King at 42:40.
The home side then made it 4-1 after a super team goal.
Cowley fed the puck to Sampford and his cross to the far post was put away by the Bison’s leading goal scorer Richard Bordowski.
Within a minute, the Herd were reduced to four skaters after Oscar Evans picked up four minutes in penalties for charging and roughing.
However, while the Bison man sat in the sin bin for the third game running against Streatham, the Herd scored shorthanded.
This time Jones released Klejna and he skated in one-on-one with King and slotted home at 50:12.
Two minutes later and the Bison collected a couple of penalties in quick succession but were able to kill them off, with Andreas Siagris going closest for the visitors.
After this the home side dominated to the final buzzer.
This evening, the Bison are in action this time at Invicta Dynamos.
